If you’re keen to start your day with an enjoyable breakfast up the mountain, Vorarlberg offers numerous possibilities in winter as well to kick off your day of skiing or a winter hike in a delicious way. The majority of mountain restaurants and huts are located in the middle of the ski resort in the immediate vicinity of the mountain stations. They are thus the ideal starting points for an active winter day.

The Gauertalhaus in the Montafon is the first certified-organic mountain refuge from Naturfreunde Österreich. Upon reservation, guests can enjoy a daily mountain breakfast with homemade organic products from the Kristahof farm. Afterwards, you can start your day of skiing right from the mountain hut. Meanwhile, tobogganing enthusiasts can toboggan all the way to the village centre of Tschagguns if the snow conditions are right.
Two mountain restaurants in the Silvretta Montafon area offer breakfast on the mountain.
Until the end of march, every Friday the Nova Stoba invites you to enjoy an early morning breakfast. Our tip: Take advantage of our ”Nova Exklusiv” guided offer which starts at 7:30 am. Swish over the optimally groomed slopes before breakfast.
From the end of December to the end of March, guests can enjoy an extensive breakfast buffet at the Kapellrestaurant every Wednesday. As part of “Ländle Früah Sport,” guests can hit the slopes as early as 7:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays from beginning of February to beginning of April before enjoying a hearty á la carte breakfast.

As part of Kultur.Frühstück.Montafon (Culture.Breakfast.Montafon) on the Kristberg mountain in the Montafon region, guests can enjoy a very special mountain adventure. After breakfast at the Panoramagasthof Kristberg inn featuring Montafon specialities such as Sura Kees and Brösel, join Adolf Zudrell on a guided tour as he discusses the lives of miners in the erstwhile mining area of Montafon. Daily by appointment.
At 1,680 m elevation directly at the mountain station of the Panoramabahn cable car in Brandnertal, the Frööd restaurant offers a rich breakfast buffet featuring local Vorarlberg products on certain Sundays in January and March. Throughout the winter, guests can also choose from different á la carte breakfast variations every day from 9.15 am. It’s the ideal way to kick off an active winter’s day. Ski slopes, winter hiking trails and the Eggen toboggan run all start right on Frööd’s doorstep.
In the Klostertal valley, the team at the Sonnenkopf mountain restaurant treats its guests to a hearty breakfast buffet each and every day. Prior registration is requested by 2 pm the day before. Located right at the mountain station of the Sonnenkopf cable car, the mountain restaurant is an ideal starting point for skiers, winter hikers, snowshoe hikers and tobogganing enthusiasts.
From Monday to Saturday groups of 10 people or more can enjoy a “z’Nüni breakfast” at biosphärenpark.haus in the Biopshere Park Grosses Walsertal with regional and homemade delicacies from local producers: alpine dairy butter from the Sonntag-Boden alpine dairy, honey from local beekeepers, various cheese and sausage specialties from the region and more. Registration possible up to two days in advance.
In the Bio-restaurant Tafel & Zunder at the Ifen guests enjoy at 2.030 m not only a unique panorama of the mountains of the Kleinwalsertal and the neighboring Allgäu, but also daily from 9.15 am different à la carte breakfast variations. From organic eggs to homemade granola, there is something for every taste. Afterwards, 25 varied kilometers of slopes await skiing fans. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can take a winter hike on the circular trail at Gottesacker.
Throughout the year, the panorama restaurant on the Karren mountain offers delicious breakfasts on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Panoramic views of the Rheintal valley are included. Advanced table reservation are required. Enjoy countless hiking trails on Dornbirn’s local mountain. Those keen to take things a bit easier can purchase the special combination “breakfast ticket” and take the cable car directly to the restaurant.
High above Bezau, the Baumgarten panorama restaurant serves up a delicious mountain breakfast against the backdrop of stunning panoramic views daily throughout the year. Reservations required. Combine your breakfast with a day of skiing at the Niedere ski resort or a ski tour in the Niedere-Winterstaude area. While winter hikers enjoy peace and quiet on the mountain, tobogganing enthusiasts can zoom down the 3.6 km forest run to Bezau.
Der WOLF ski hut above Lech am Arlberg offers a breakfast on the mountain in a special ambience. Designed by Vorarlberg architect Bernado Bader, the building style is based on the tradition of building in the Alps. From Tuesday to Sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., the menu offers a variety of delicacies from Vorarlberger Riebel to sportsmen’s breakfasts and children’s breakfasts. Situated in the middle of the ski area, the Wolf is the ideal starting point for an eventful day of skiing on the Arlberg.
Next to the Zürsersee near Lech Zürs am Arlberg is the mountain restaurant Seekopf that offers daily from 9.00 a.m. a fine á la carte breakfast with a view. When the weather is nice, the large sun terrace invites you to linger. Located directly at the mountain stations of the Seekopf and Zürsersee cable cars, an ideal start to the day for both skiers and winter hikers. During the guided package “Early start Zürser Täli” all early birds can enjoy the empty slopes and the subsequent breakfast every Thursdays already from 7.45 am on.
In the panorama restaurant Rüfikopf on the local mountain of Lech am Arlberg, a small, fine selection of á la carte breakfast variations awaits all skiers, winter hikers and sun worshippers daily from 9:00 a.m. at an altitude of 2,350 meters. Here the name says it all with 360° views of the surrounding mountains such as Omeshorn, Rote Wand and Mohnenfluh.
