Flat open spaces or super steep terrain? Family friendly, relaxing or perhaps a sporty challenge? Vorarlberg’s landscapes are perfect for bike or mountain bike excursions in nature.
Vorarlberg’s cycling routes are trails of adventure through spectacular scenery. The well-signposted network of trails for cycling in Vorarlberg is nearly 300 kilometres long! Not to mention the roadside cycle paths and cross-border routes that lead to neighbouring Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. One prime example is the 270-km Lake Constance cycle path, which is amongst the most popular bike routes in all of Europe.
In the last few years, a network of more thean 1,300 kilometres of uniformly signposted mountain bike paths was created throughout Vorarlberg, much of which is brand new. Factors such as safety, the protection of the natural environment and beauty were all taken into consideration when selecting the right routes. After all, mountain bikers also appreciate especially breathtaking natural and cultural landscapes.
For many years, the experience of cycling in the mountains was something only the very fit could enjoy. With an e-bike things have finally changed. It is now possible to travel cross-country, to ascend to higher elevations with ease. A brisk tour from Lake Constance to the foot of the Piz Buin is just one example.
Bicycles, mountain bikes and e-bikes are available for rent at several sports outlets and also at hotels all over Vorarlberg.
Bregenzerwald has a region-wide rental system, with several city bike locations.
