The basics for ski touring can be acquired in Kleinwalsertal, a ski touring course for beginners lasting about five hours takes place once a week. The program is aimed at good skiers who master black slopes in parallel turns. The necessary safety equipment will be provided.

You can take your first steps on touring skis with a Montafon mountain guide on a ski touring taster day in Gargellen in the Montafon. During a short ski tour, the basic techniques are taught by a certified mountain guide. There is also information on the equipment required and basic knowledge for getting started with ski touring. This day is aimed at absolute beginners, intermediate skiing ability is sufficient.

Warth ski school invites guests every Thursday to a taster ski tour for a gentle introduction to the beautiful world of ski touring. From the Safety Check to the right application of fur and the easiest ascent technique. We will teach you the basics of ski tour sports.  Afterwards guests experience a short and easy ascent with a beautiful downhill skiing experience.

Ski touring offers for beginners and experts

The mountain and ski guides of ski school Mellau will accompany a guided ski tour on request. The safety equipment is included and the touring equipment can be rented. Snow sports school Schröcken invites to individual day and half-day tours for beginners and experts. The safety equipment is provided by the snow sports school. Ski school Warth invites you to taster tours, easy day tours and long mountain and summit tours. The mountain and ski guides can be booked daily and design individual tours.

What about an evening’s ski excursion? When the cable cars stop operating, is the time the ski tour, which is also well-suited for beginners, takes off in Gargellen in Montafon weekly. Head up the mountain in the light of the setting sun, covering about 220 metres in elevation gain, and with headlights on your way down.

The possibility for a cross-border tour around the majestic Madrisa with a Montafon mountain guide is available once a week. The challenging tour, which starts at the top station of the Schafbergbahn in Gargellen and leads first to the St. Antönier Jöchle and on to Switzerland, takes eight hours.

Every Tuesday in March a Walser guide takes you to another Walser ski tour summit: Portlahorn, Schafberg, Zafernhorn, Lusgrind and Gamsfreiheit. The Walser guides also invite you to the ski tour basic course, ski tour advanced courses as well as ski tour update on different dates.

One of the most challenging ski tours runs up to the highest summit of the Rätikon massif, the 2,965m high Schesaplana. Mounting from the village of Brand in Brandnertal will take a good five hours. Skiers are rewarded by lovely summit views and a wonderfully long descent. Totalphütte provides overnight shelter, if necessary.
