Canoe tours: A touch of Canada in Vorarlberg
Divided into several sections, the fascinating riverine landscape of the Bregenzerach river boasts up to 30 km of whitewater adventure in modern, agile, inflatable canoes (for 2-3 persons or “sit-on-top” single canoes). Depending on the water level, the standard route is 9 to 16 km and the tours last either half or an entire day.
Canoe tours are also offered on the Alter Rhein (Old Rhine), the river that forms the border between Vorarlberg and Switzerland.
Tours begin with a briefing on paddling techniques and a detailed safety discussion during which participants learn basic knowledge of paddling and correct technique in whitewater in a playful manner from well-trained guides.
Throughout the summer, tours can be booked for beginners and the advanced in addition to options for company groups. Depending on the provider, tours are offered at fixed times on Saturdays or Sundays or by individual arrangement. Most tours are offered for groups of 4 or more people.
Full-day Trekraft tours combine a kayak trip with a hike along the river’s navigable section.
To participate in a rafting or canoe tour, one must be in adequate physical condition and have good swimming skills.
After a briefing, enjoy a rafting tour on the Bregenzerach river with rafting boats and experienced kayak guides.
