Whether to start your day or as a treat in between: it’s always the right time for a good coffee. Cafés are full of life. Here, people meet and exchange ideas. These cafés combine coffee culture and lifestyle in a special way. The finest coffee from local roasters is served.
With Badhus, Manuela, Martina, Paula and Sarah have crafted a space full of joy and vitality. Here, in a café with a “package-free” store situated in a meticulously renovated building on the village square, they welcome everyone who appreciates sustainably produced, vegetarian delicacies from the region. The cafés’ certified organic coffee comes from Amann, a renowned Vorarlberg roastery. Bread, cakes and ice cream are homemade. The menu features various breakfast options, a lunch menu and – if ordered in advance – well-stocked picnic baskets.
Explore Dornbirn, take a stroll through the weekly market, and enjoy a well-deserved break. On Wednesday and Saturday market days, this small, bespoke coffee roastery with coffee bar in the heart of Dornbirn treats its guests to home-roasted coffee specialties. HANDLE-Kaffee has been making great blends for over 15 years. Their coffee is also available in some other cafés in Vorarlberg.
Even as a child in Italy, Andrea Trevisan was interested in coffee and the origin of beans. He has been residing in the Bregenzerwald for a while and operates a coffee roastery and Coffee Bar in Bezau. Andrea Trevisan showcased his exceptional coffee roasting skills at the Austrian Coffee Championship 2024, where he claimed the top prize. His Coffee Bar is open twice a week (Fri and Sat). Here, excellent coffee is accompanied by cakes baked by Lebenshilfe Bezau, an organisation that aids individuals with disabilities.
Schlosskaffee in Hohenems is a tradition-rich address for lovers of sweet treats. The Fenkart family has been running the coffee house with its beautiful garden and shop for three generations. In addition to coffee from the renowned Vorarlberg roaster Amann, there are cakes from the in-house patisserie as well as renowned homemade Fenkart chocolate. Visitors to the chocolate world can learn more abouthow chocolate is made.
The Café Deli in the Hotel Bären in Mellau delights guests with urban flair in the heart of Bregenzerwald. Coffee comes from the HANDLE Kaffeewerk coffee roastery in Dornbirn. One of the classics is the “Deli Super Breakfast.” There are also cakes from the Bären patisserie in addition to snacks. A visit here is an ideal prelude to a day of hiking or cycling – or the perfect place to treat yourself afterwards.
Rainer Troy is a master confectioner. He runs both the Theatercafé and the Museumscafé. The latter is located just opposite on the ground floor of the vorarlberg museum. Through the large windows and from the outdoor tables, guests can enjoy observing the hustle and bustle of the lively Kornmarktplatz square, where the weekly market in Bregenz takes place (Tues and Fri). The coffee from Amann Kaffee’s regional roast is accompanied by snacks and sweets from the Theatercafé’s patisserie. On the final Thursday of every month, the Museumscafé plays host to the “Concert at Noon,” performed by students from the Stella College of Music in Feldkirch. In summer, ensembles and singers from Vorarlberg provide entertainment.
The café, located in the contemporary glass-fronted Werkraum Haus in Andelsbuch, serves coffee from the esteemed Vorarlberg roasting house Amann, along with cakes from the local Künz bakery, as well as snacks and lunch options. Designed by the renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, the building highlights the craftsmanship culture of the Bregenzerwald. Guests can relax at the long bar or at tables crafted by skilled craftspeople from the Bregenzerwald region. Guests can choose to sit either under the roof or outside.
