The DS Hohentwiel: Embrace a sense of adventure during memorable moments in an elegant atmosphere. A historical cruise on Lake Constance is a special experience no matter the weather.
Her legendary reputation precedes her: The deep tones from Captain Adi Konstatzky’s horn are audible from clear across the lake. As this elegant, nostalgic steamship straight out of a fairytale comes into view, one is reminded of times long since past.
There is no more stylish way to experience the sunset on Lake Constance: Gourmet cruises and other events are offered on the lavishly renovated paddle steamship. Chef Heino Huber then serves a 5-course menu on board.
When the Hohentwiel made its official maiden voyage on 21 April 1913, it was indeed just one of many steamships. Even then, however, the "Seeblatt" newspaper reported that the interior of the Hohentwiel was especially luxurious in comparison to other ships.

Enjoy a cruise on a historic ship on Lake Constance before the performance of “Madame Butterfly” on the Lake Stage of the world famous Bregenz Festival. We serve an excellent 3-course festival menu including aperitif and ‘amuse-bouche.’ As the last of the passenger ships, we moor directly at the lakeside stage for you. To avoid disappointment, we recommend early reservations. Festival tickets are available on request.
MS OESTERREICH: Like a phoenix from the ashes: For those who love historical cruises on faithfully restored ships, a new era will begin in spring of 2019. The maiden voyage of the MS OESTERREICH will be an extra special occasion. After all, the DS Hohentwiel was the final steamboat on waters of Lake Constance, while the MS OESTERREICH was the last powered vessel. This year, after 33 exciting months of restoration in the Fussach shipyard, the “Oesterreich” has emerged from the ashes like a phoenix to head for its future berth at the side of the “Hohentwiel” in the Hard harbour. The similar histories of these two ships is being consciously emphasised in order to offer guests and locals alike a unique experience on Lake Constance.

Arrive free of charge:
When departing from ports in Vorarlberg (Hard, Bregenz or Lochau) and Lindau, 2022 guests of the Hohentwiel or Oesterreich are permitted to travel to all theme cruises free of charge by public transport. A valid ticket for the booked cruise is required!
