The Lech Route
The Lech Route (Lechweg) runs along one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe. On about 125 kilometres the hiker accompanies the Lech from its source near Lake Formarinsee to the Lech Falls in Füssen in the Allgäu.
The Lechweg leads past one of the largest ibex colonies in Europe, a waterfall that magically dries up and rises again every year, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Austria and the Bavarian royal castles. The trail connects three regions and two countries with their traditions and stories. From the Arlberg area to the Tyrolean nature park region Lechtal-Reutte to the southern Allgäu: the Lech has shaped all three regions over the centuries. From the Romans and their Alpine crossings to the Swabian children and the raftsmen – the Lech plays an important role in every history.
3 Variations: Easy – Classic – Sporty
The Lechweg can be walked in three variations. The route is always the same, only the kilometres covered during the day make the difference.
Cosy variant | 8 stages
Classic variant | 7 stages
Sporty variant | 6 stages
The challenge of walking the Lechweg is feasible for everyone. Further information on the individual stages can be found under this link: www.lechweg.com/en
