Traditional ski huts
When the snow line dips into the valley and Vorarlberg is transformed into a romantic winter wonderland, the time is right to head to one of the many rustic huts in the mountains to get warm up. The aroma of traditional dishes such as Käsknöpfle cheese spaetzle, Kaiserschmarrn shredded pancakes or perhaps a hearty snack of cold cuts will make you feel at home while you warm your bones at the tiled stove and replenish your energy for the slopes.

01 Auenfelder Hütte, Schröcken
Located in the heart of the Warth-Schröcken skiing and hiking area, the Auenfelder Hütte mountain inn exudes the romantic charm of rustic Alpine dining with its cosy, warming tiled stove and its sunny terrace. Typical Alpine snacks and other regional classics taste even better against the backdrop of impressive natural features such as the imposing Hochtannberg mountain world.

02 Berggasthof Niedere, Andelsbuch
The Alpe Niedere mountain inn in Andelsbuch is without a doubt the ideal place for a cosy stop in. It features a magnificent, modern timber building, a spectacular fireplace in which the wood hisses and crackles, homemade Käsknöpfle cheese spaetzle and products made on the farm. Winter-sports fans will find themselves enamoured with the spectacular views whilst treating themselves to a break on the sun terrace. Alternatively, head inside and feast to your heart’s content in the homely parlour.

03 Alpengasthof Meierei, Bödele
The “Meierei” on the Bödele pass is a true insider’s tip for hut fans. Observing the day-to-day life in this tradition-rich establishment quickly reveals the level of passion that goes into the entire operation. The homely parlour and the beautiful outdoor area are decorated with an eye for detail. In addition, the milk products are sourced from the property’s own Alpine dairy and form the basis for a variety of delicious foods, including of course a hearty Käsknöpfle cheese spaetzle.

04 Garfrenga restaurant, Nenzing
The “Garfrenga” Alpine restaurant at the Alpine campground in Nenzing offers the wonderful romantic charm of mountain huts and culinary highlights. At the close of an adventure-filled winter’s day, guests can take a seat in the stylishly decorated parlour and be treated to delicious food from the kitchen staff. The menu features both classic inn fare as well as healthy, vegan and contemporary, fresh cuisine.

05 Max Hütte, Mittelberg
Located directly on the slopes of the Walmendingerhornbahn cable car, the Kessler family welcomes guests to dine on a variety of palate pleasers such as hot chocolate, refreshing beer specialities and invigorating dishes. The hut can be reached via the winter-hiking trail from the Zaferna mountain station (high-elevation trail, 30 minutes) or from the Mittelberg car park (45 min). Depending on the weather conditions, guests can warm themselves in the sun or near the tiled stove indoors.

06 Bühlalpe, Mittelberg
The traditional “Bühlalpe” mountain inn in Mittelberg, which is located near the Walmendingerhorn mountain, is the ideal meeting point for winter-sports and mountain fans. Hardly a hut could be more authentic than the tradition-rich “Rud-Alpe” mountain inn, which is located directly on the Schlegelkopf mountain high above the village of Lech. The “Muntafuner Stöbli“ mountain inn in Gortipohl is THE place to experience authentic Montafon ambiance. Two wonderfully preserved parlours are housed in a historical building from the 17th century. Here, guests of the Rudigier family are made to feel most welcome thanks to a hearty dose of hospitality. Traditional specialities made from regional ingredients can be enjoyed along with a fine glass from the wine cellar.

Guests of the “Wormser Hütte” mountain inn, which is located at 2,307 m in Schruns in Montafon, will be treated to traditional Alpine flair. The architecture of the establishment located against the backdrop of the stunning mountains of Montafon is truly impressive.
