In this unique workshop for the preservation and maintenance of traditional costum es, you can explore 500 years of craftsmanship and watch how the famous “Wälderjuppe” (a traditional Bregenzerwald garment for women) is made. - Angelika-Kauffmann-Museum, Schwarzenberg
Besides the Angelika-Kauffmann hall and the parish church, Schwarzenberg has a special exhibition devoted to the memory and work of the famous daughter of the Bregenzerwald. A modern museum was “implanted“ in the outbuilding of the 19th century local museum in Schwarzenberg.
- Women’s Museum, Hittisau
The only women’s museum in Austria hosts changing exhibitions on the history and current situation of women from a regional or supra-regional point of view. Bergschau 1122, the permanent exhibition staged at the Walserhaus in Hirschegg, draws on exciting interactive features to show how the flora and fauna of the Allgäu and Kleinwalstertal Alps evolved over time. What is more, visitors get a chance to hear, see, smell and feel regional specialties. Admission free.
