Heimathaus Denkmalhof Linzenberg, Schwarzach
-
The Schwarzach Museum of Local History (‘Heimathaus’) is located in a farmstead built in a typical Rhine Valley architectural style, with a functional small farm, hay-making equipment shop and whetstone production works. The building, which is under landmark protection, was constructed in the 19th century and converted into a local heritage museum in 1986 , in close cooperation with the Austrian Federal Historic Monuments Office. It re-opened in 1991. With displays of selected items, the historical and economic development of the community of Schwarzach has been traced.
The Farm Museum is located along the hiking trail from Bildstein to Farnach. In addition to traditionally furnished rooms the farm also contains a collection of folklore objects, in particular historic farm tools and utensils, a schnapps still and a cider press. One special exhibit (the grinding shop) displays the production of whetstones used in the grinding trade, which was formerly an important economic factor in Schwarzach.
