Ruin Neu-Montfort
-
Even from a distance, you can recognize the tower walls of Neu-Montfort Castle high above Götzis. They are a reminder of the Middle Ages and of its founders, the Counts of Montfort-Feldkirch. Built in 1311, the small castle was abandoned in the late 17th century and fell into disrepair. The outer walls of the once imposing residential tower still remain, but the additionally attached residential wing and the ring walls are hardly recognizable anymore. Also because of the elevated location, a visit to the castle ruins Neu-Montfort is worthwhile – the view over the Rhine valley to Lake Constance is fantastic.
