Beech route

Directions

The route starts at the sports field in Silbertal and proceeds downstream along the Litz to the center. At the church bridge, turn right, cross the Litz bridge and shortly after turn into Buchenstraße. Pass directly by Hotel Hirschen. A few meters later, turn right into Kristbergstraße. Follow Kristbergstraße upwards. Just above Silbertal, turn right again and follow the narrow steep mountain path in switchbacks up towards Kristberg. You reach the area “Fula” and follow the signposts towards “Schöni” and Stieralpe on the right. You pass the first exit point “Schöni” of the Kristbergbahn. Through forest sections and a wide path, you reach Buchen. At the signpost, orient yourself towards “Bärenschlager” and Innerbuchen. Arriving in Innerbuchen, follow the forest path down into the Bärenschlager area. Cross the bridge and then go right along the wide gravel path back. Upon reaching the Bannwald bridge, turn left passing the Teufelsbach waterfall. Shortly after, you pass below the Montafon saga festival (open-air stage). Shortly after, you return to the starting point.

Just leave your car behind

The regional buses of the Montafonerbahn operate throughout the Montafon. The main lines run hourly from Schruns train station.

From Schruns station, you can reach Silbertal with bus line 680. The exit point is: “Kristbergbahn”

For the return trip

Bus line 680 takes you back from Silbertal to Schruns station.

Arrival by train

From Bludenz station, the Montafonerbahn runs hourly (sometimes every half hour). There are also direct connections from Lindau (D) and Bregenz.

Approach:

Coming from Bludenz, take the Bludenz/Montafon motorway exit and follow the L188 into the Montafon to Schruns. Then continue via Silbertalerstraße to Silbertal. http://www.google.at/maps
