Damüls Faschina | Sunrise hike to the Zafernhorn
-
Höhenprofil
Probably the best moment of a summer day: the sunrise from Faschina (1,423 m) to the Zafernhorn (2,107 m). The great 360-degree panoramic view from the summit rewards you with a beautiful overview of the mountains of the Great Walser Valley and the Damüls region.
The Zafernhorn is a panoramic mountain par excellence between the Bregenzerwald and the Großes Walsertal. Once at the top, the view opens up frontally to the imposing Rote Wand and to the south to the Rätikon. Behind the Rote Wand, Silvretta summits with the easily identifiable Piz Buin and glacier reach for the sky. The rustic summit cross on the Zafernhorn and the fantastic sunrise always provide an impressive spectacle.
It's worth getting up early. In order to enjoy the fantastic sunrise from the Zafernhorn, the alarm clock should be set for 3 a.m. Sounds crazy? The feeling upon arrival paired with the fantastic play of light makes up for all the effort by far!

Directions
Initially on the gravel road, but soon on a paved road up to the first Alm Brüche. It goes past the Zafernmaisäß until the shortcut joins the Alpweg just before the Zafernfurka. Here is also the Hubertus chapel a little to the right. Now you go uphill on a path in a northwesterly direction for about 230 meters and you have already reached the summit. The descent follows the same route.
