Lingenau | Next to the Subersach to Hittisau and back accross the Rotenberg

To the water at the Subersach to Hittisau and through forests back across the Rotenberg.

Follow the yellow-white sign for “Hehl – Gschwendt, Gschwendtobel” downhill to Gschwendtobel. Do not cross the wooden bridge, but turn left before you get to it. The trail leads upstream along the Subersach stream before it continues 200 m up the southern slope to the centre of Hittisau. Follow the signs for the Engenloch-schlucht from here. Lunch will be served at Landhotel Hirschen after this approximately one-hour round trip.

After lunch, follow the signs to ‘Rotenberg und Känzele Aussicht’. The route passes between the bakery and Hotel Krone, past the Sutterlüty to the Häleisen bus stop. That takes you up to the Rotenberg. The beautiful view of Hittisau may be enjoyed on a brief detour to the ‘Känzele’ viewpoint. A freight trail leads 110 metres uphill towards Rotenberg. This long ridge presents a choice between a steeper footpath and a freight trail for the descent of 220 metres to Lingenau.
