More top tips for this route:
Marktplatz square in Dornbirn city centre is surrounded by a cluster of buildings from different centuries. These include the “Rotes Haus”, which is over 400 years old, the classical church and a series of modern structures. The market held every Saturday is perfect for culinary delights and fantastic flowers, while the many townhouses and arcades in Feldkirch’s Old Town make it ideal for a stroll. This city was originally established in the late 12th century at the same time as Schattenburg castle and many of its foundation walls date back to the Middle Ages. The Old Town ensemble is now protected as a listed heritage site, with the landmark late-Gothic cathedral located in the north-east corner of this historic centre.
A number of hotels, restaurants and inns located on or in close proximity to the route are of special interest in terms of the local building culture. These establishments are ideal for mouth-watering meals and overnight stays during the “Architectours” in Vorarlberg.
