Umgang Andelsbuch
-
Höhenprofil
Andelsbuch was one of the starting points for the settlement of the Bregenzerwald. In the second half of the 11th century, the blessed Diedo settled in Andelsbuch. Andelsbuch was made into a parish in 1170, and is considered to be the first parish in the Mittelwald and the Hinterwald. These days, craftsmanship and the building trade with its associated trades play an important role, which is visible and tangible, most notably so in the Werkraum Haus of the “Werkraum Bregenzerwald” association of craftspeople. However it is farming, with its fields and large farmhouses, which continues to shape the villagescape.
On each walk, information columns draw attention to a building, to the special features of the cultural landscape, to artisanal or ecological details, to facets of artistic, culinary or touristic works.

The Alp Niedere chapel in an altitude of 1,600 metres above Andelsbuch has quite a modern look. The clean-lined wooden structure was designed by the famous Vorarlberg architects Cukrowicz Nachbauer and is worth a visit.

Directions
A path takes you from the Werkraum Haus towards the church. Right after the former railway station building, you take the road to the right as far as “Hof Nr. 626”, a houseworth seeing. Follow this road to the left until you reach the church. At the limetree – a natural monument – on the church square, follow a hiking signpost (3.01) towards “Großmoos Sessellift”, the cable car in Großmoos. The path now takes you downhill to a stream. After the bridge, stay on the left-hand side and hike straight ahead and, going uphill once again, continue towards “Moos”. Just before you reach the cable-car valley station, at house no. 383, you turn off to your right and take this road – which offers a fantastic view of Andelsbuch and Schwarzenberg – as far as “Kleinmoos”. There, at board 3.22, you can take a detour to the house entitled “Moos Nr. 92” (a narrow footpath towards “Ortsmitte”, the village centre). Otherwise, you continue along the road as far as “Grunholz”. There, you follow the path downhill towards “Stausee Bezegg”. In “Itter”, the path meanders its way between lovely old Bregenzerwald houses. At the former “Gasthaus Sonne”, you cross the B road and then turn off tothe right. After about 150 m, sticking to the right-hand side, the road takes you back to Andelsbuch village centre (to the left of the village hall: take a detour to the Wälder Insurance building).
